The full name of the National Defence Academy is NDA. This is where you go if you want to join the Indian military. What is the Full Form of NDA?
The full name of the National Defence Academy is NDA. NDA is an Indian Armed Forces joint services academy located near the Khadakwasla dam in Pune, Maharashtra. As a tri-service academy — and the world’s first — they train the Army, Navy, and Air Force together before sending them to their institutions for additional pre-commission training. The academy has produced 27 service chiefs of staff, and some of their alumni have previously been awarded the Param Vir Chakra and Ashoka Chakra. In reality, the current chiefs of staff in charge of operations at the three military organizations mentioned above all attended NDA.
What is an NDA Exam?
The NDA administers this exam solely to determine an applicant’s eligibility to join one of the military services: the Army, Navy, or Air Force. Because of the advantages of being a soldier, admissions to the NDA are met with massive crowds of students vying for a spot to take the NDA exam. The NDA exam is held twice a year, once in April and once in September, by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Eligibility Criteria for NDA Exam
Every candidate who desires to take the exam must meet the UPSC’s NDA eligibility criteria. The candidate will be allowed to the NDA exam if they meet the UPSC’s NDA requirements as stated in their commission notice. The following are the eligibility requirements for taking the NDA exam:
You must be a citizen of India.
You have to be a man.
It would help if you were between the ages of sixteen and nineteen.
Each wing has its own set of educational requirements:
Army: You must have a State Board-recognized undergraduate degree (of any stream) and a Class 12 Pass certification under the 10+2 school education pattern or similar.
Navy/Air Force: You must have a State Board-recognized undergraduate science degree and a Class 12 Pass certification (with Physics and Mathematics as your core) under the 10+2 schooling pattern or similar.
Important Dates for NDA Exam
The UPSC publishes an official examination calendar that includes the NDA exam date. These are sent out as notices to start the recruitment process and to notify exam dates. For example, the commission planned to begin NDA I 2021 recruiting on December 30, 2020, and NDA II 2021 recruitment on June 2021. The History of NDA
Marshal Claude Auchinleck, the former commander-in-chief of the Indian army, headed a committee throughout the world at the close of World War II and reported to the Government of India in December 1946. He advocated for establishing a Joint Services Military Academy, modeled after the United States Military Academy at West Point. In late 1947, the committee launched an action plan to commission a permanent defense academy and began looking for a suitable location for its construction.
Lord Linlithgow, the former Viceroy of India, received £100,000 from the Sudanese government in 1941 to construct a war memorial in honor of the sacrifices made by Indian forces in the liberation of Sudan during World War II’s East African Campaign. Instead, the Indian army opted to use these monies to help pay for part of the NDA’s construction. On October 6, 1949, former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru lay the foundations for the academy. The NDA was finally constituted on December 7, 1954, and an inaugural ceremony was held on January 16, 1955.
