Facebook Dating helps you find love by connecting you with others who share your interests, activities, and groups, making it easier to create meaningful relationships. In addition, it simplifies making a dating profile and provides a more genuine picture of someone’s personality.
We’re starting Facebook Dating in the United States today. In addition to Facebook friends, people will incorporate their Instagram posts directly into their Facebook Dating profiles. They will be able to add Instagram followers to their Secret Crush lists. We’ll also make it easy to add Facebook and Instagram Stories to your Dating profile by the end of the year.
Because finding a love partner is so personal, we designed Dating to be secure, inclusive, and opt-in. This product places a premium on safety, security, and privacy. We worked with experts in these fields to include safety features into Facebook Dating from the beginning, such as the option to report and ban people, the prohibition of sending photographs, links, money, or videos in messages, and simple access to safety guidelines. These and other features provide you greater control and peace of mind. Here’s where you can learn more about Facebook Dating and privacy.
How It Works
If you’re 18 years old or older and have downloaded the most recent version of Facebook, you can now opt into Facebook Dating and create a second Dating profile (from your main profile). Others who have opted in will be recommended to you. People are suggested based on your Facebook preferences, hobbies, and other activities. Facebook dating isn’t about swiping left or right or waiting for someone to like you before reaching out. If you want someone, you can leave a comment on their profile or hit the Like button to let them know. You can ignore them if you aren’t interested. You can match friends of friends and people who are not in your friend group on Facebook Dating. Unless you use Secret Crush and add each other to your list, Facebook Dating will not match you with pals. All of your Facebook Dating activities will be saved. It won’t be seen by anybody else on Facebook.
Facebook and Instagram Stories will soon allow users to connect and share.
People are now expected to make an instant decision about whether or not they like someone based on a static profile. We’re bringing Stories to Dating to let you demonstrate, rather than tell, who you are. This structure allows you to be genuine in a way that a standard dating profile cannot, and it also allows you to get to know someone before and after your match.
You can match with people you already know on Facebook and Instagram with Secret Crush.
People told us they were interested in exploring prospective romantic relationships inside their expanded circles, such as their Facebook friend list and Instagram followers. Still, Facebook Dating doesn’t match you with your Facebook friends by default. However, that’s precisely what our popular Secret Crush function allows you to do. You can choose up to nine of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers who you’re interested in using Secret Crush. (You must connect your Instagram account to Facebook Dating to acquire Instagram followers.) If your crush has chosen to participate in Facebook Dating, they will be notified that someone has a passion for them. It’s a match if your desire adds you to their Secret Crush list as well. If your crush isn’t on Dating, hasn’t made a Secret Crush list, or hasn’t added you to it, no one will know you’ve submitted their name.
You may now integrate your Instagram posts into your Facebook Dating profile.
Adding Instagram posts to your profile can make it easy to improve your dating profile, show off elements of your life, and discover shared connections that generate conversation.
Sign up for Events and Groups to meet people who share your interests.
Within the groups, you’re a part of and the events you’ve been or will attend, you can see other people using Facebook Dating who match your criteria. You will be visible to these people if you wish to see them.
Sharing your date’s facts will make you feel safe.
Facebook Dating can use Messenger to exchange facts about their future date and current location with someone they trust.
They will have control over whether or not they want to use this function. If they do, they have complete control over who they share this data with.
It’s now easier than ever to create a dating profile.
We’ve made it easier to build a Facebook Dating profile based on feedback from people in other countries who use the service. We’ll propose photographs and information from your Facebook page that you may change or remove with a single swipe. Of course, you can also start from scratch and create your dating profile.
Facebook Dating is currently available in 19 countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Suriname, Thailand, Uruguay, and Vietnam, in addition to the United States. By early 2020, it will be in Europe. Visit facebook.com/dating for more information.
