Biography, Work and Educational Career of General Ibrahim Attahiru

General Ibrahim Attahiru was born in Doka, Kaduna North Local Government District, Kaduna Province, on August 10, 1966. He attended the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, and the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, among other institutions. He began his cadet training in January 1984 and was commissioned as an infantry officer in December 1986 with Second Lieutenant’s rank.

Work Experience

General Attahiru has served various personnel, educational, and command posts. He served as military personnel for the United Nations in Sierra Leone, where he facilitated the United Kingdom’s military engagement, Operation Barass, in September 2000. In Liberia, he worked as an operations officer and later as a company commander in NIBATT 19, ECO-MOG.

He had the distinct honor of commanding with distinction throughout the Nigerian Army’s chain of command. He was the Theatre Commander for Operation LAFIA DOLE at one stage (the counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency outfit in northeastern Nigeria). According to the documents, with the surrender of various Boko Haram soldiers, he brought relative peace to the area.
