Apple has discovered that a small percentage of iPhone 8 devices have faulty logic boards. Unexpected restarts, a frozen screen, or the inability to turn on are all possible symptoms. Apple will free of charge repair eligible devices.
In Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, and the United States, affected units were sold between September 2017 and March 2018.

The iPhone 8 Plus and other iPhone models are not affected by this program.
The Methodology of Service
To have your iPhone 8 repaired, select one of the services listed below. To ensure that your iPhone is eligible for this program, it will be examined before any service. Your iPhone will be serviced at an Apple Repair Center in all cases.

If your iPhone 8 has any damage that prevents the repair from being completed, such as a cracked screen, that problem must be addressed before the service can be performed. The additional repair may incur a cost in some cases.

The standard warranty coverage of the iPhone 8 is not extended by this Apple program.

How to See If Apple Has Recalled Your iPhone 8
Is there something wrong with your iPhone 8? Apple has acknowledged that due to a logic board issue, a “small percentage” of iPhone 8 models may freeze or restart unexpectedly. Even if you aren’t having these problems right now, the signs of a faulty logic board could appear at any time.
In any case, Apple has launched a repair program for the iPhone 8, and your device may be included in the recall, whether or not it is having problems. It’s worth noting that this recall only affects iPhone 8 models; the iPhone 8 Plus appears to be unaffected.

Here’s how to see if your iPhone 8 has a faulty logic board and, as a result, is eligible for a repair:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone and select General from the drop-down menu.
Scroll down to Serial Number from the About menu at the top of the screen. Copy the serial number by pressing the Copy button.
To use the iPhone 8 checker, go to Apple’s website. Copy the serial number and paste it into the box provided, then click Submit.
If the tool indicates that your iPhone is part of the recall, you have a few options for getting it fixed. You could start by visiting an Apple Authorized Service Provider, which you can locate here. Second, you could visit an Apple Store right away. Last but not least, you can contact Apple Support and have a prepaid shipping box sent to you so you can send your iPhone in for repair.
If your iPhone has been freezing or restarting on its own, it should no longer be doing so when you get it back — and it shouldn’t start if it hasn’t done so before. Apart from that, don’t expect any significant performance improvements. Your warranty will continue to run out when it is supposed to.
